Baltimore County Looks to Repeal Stun Gun Ban

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – The future of Baltimore County’s ban on stun guns will be decided Monday.

The County Council is set to vote on repealing the ban at their 6 p.m. meeting.

The ban on owning and using electronic weapons has been in place since 2009. The move to repeal it comes after the county was hit with a federal lawsuit filed by residents who wanted to purchase stun guns for protection but couldn’t.

Officials hope the charges will be dismissed if they repeal the ban. Baltimore City and Howard County were also named in that federal lawsuit.

Howard County officials lifted the district’s stun gun ban back in February.
